Yellow Cattura Coffee Tree

Yellow Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon variety, prized for its compact size and sweet, bright cup profile with yellow cherries.

  • Chill hours: Not applicable; coffee trees thrive in tropical climates and do not require chill hours.
  • Altitude: Best grown at 1,000–2,000 meters above sea level; higher elevations enhance flavor complexity.
  • Pollination: Primarily self-pollinating, though insect activity can improve fruit set.
  • Tree size: Dwarf/compact stature, ideal for high-density planting and easier harvesting.
  • Harvest time: Depends on location, generally November to March in the Northern Hemisphere, May to August in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • Usage of fruits: The beans are processed for specialty coffee; the pulp can be used for compost or cascara tea.
  • Fruits and flavor: Produces yellow cherries; the cup profile is sweet, clean, with medium body, and often exhibits notes of citrus, floral, and mild caramel tones.
